Breast augmentation with lift combines two highly popular procedures: breast augmentation, which improves the size of the breasts, (2) and breast lift (also known as mastopexy), which lifts the breasts on the chest wall and improves nipple shape/position. (3)

Every breast surgery at our practice begins with a personal consultation with Dr. Lo. During this private meeting, you will have the opportunity to openly discuss your goals, ask questions, and explore your options. Preparation

Once you have scheduled your surgery, Dr. Lo’s team will provide a set of pre-operative instructions to help you prepare. You may be asked to:

  • Stop taking blood-thinning medications or supplements
  • Avoid alcohol and nicotine use several weeks before and after surgery
  • Arrange for a trusted adult to drive you home and help with early recovery
  • Plan for time off work and limit strenuous activity
  • Complete any necessary lab work or medical clearance

Procedure

Your breast augmentation with lift will take place at a fully accredited surgical facility in Knoxville. You will receive the proper anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.

The first step is typically to perform the breast lift. Dr. Lo will make carefully placed incisions to remove excess skin and elevate the breasts. Common incision patterns include the lollipop (around the areola and vertically down to the breast fold) and the anchor (which adds a horizontal incision along the breast fold).

Dr. Lo will perform the augmentation by placing implants either above or below the chest muscle, depending on your anatomy and preferences. If you choose to incorporate fat transfer instead of or in support of implants, Dr. Lo will use liposuction to harvest fat from a donor area, which is then purified and injected into the breasts.

Once the desired volume and position are achieved, Dr. Lo will close the incisions with fine sutures and apply dressings. You will also receive a support bra that will help to protect your results throughout the healing process.

Recovery

After your breast augmentation and lift, you can expect to experience some swelling, tightness, and mild discomfort in the days following surgery, which can be managed with medication prescribed by Dr. Lo and by following aftercare instructions. Dr. Lo and his team will let you know how to care for your incisions, wear dressings and support bras, and which activities or movements you should avoid.

Most patients feel well enough to return to desk work and light activity within one to two weeks. Strenuous exercise and lifting should be avoided for at least four to six weeks, or until Dr. Lo approves.

Results
